Preparing for the Alamo
Characters:
Santa Anna (Matthew)
José Enrique de la Peña (Nghi)
Sam Houston (Zuha)
James Bowie (Christina)
Scene 1:
(January 1836)
(Santa Anna and José de la Pena meet up at their Mexican headquarters)
José Enrique de la Peña: [knocks]
Santa Anna: Come on in, Colonel de la Pena.
José Enrique de la Peña: General Santa Anna [bows]
Santa Anna: [nods and gesture to-] sit down
José Enrique de la Peña: What is it that you needed me for, sir?
Santa Anna: The colonists of Texas have declared themselves in open revolution and proclaimed independence from Mexico without even our government’s approval. We should teach them a lesson, they shouldn't be too full of themselves after winning the very first Battle of Gonzales against us.
José Enrique de la Peña: You are implying?
Santa Anna: Attack their central city, San Antonio, as soon as possible. We should be ready for this assault by the end of February.
José Enrique de la Peña: Then.. I’m guessing that you want me to gather as many men as possible to prepare for this fight?
Santa Anna: You know me very well.
José Enrique de la Peña: My honor, sir [bow]
Santa Anna: Well, you know what you are going to do
José Enrique de la Peña: I will begin at once.[salute]
Scene 2:
(January 1836)
(Sam Houston and James Bowie met up at the Alamo)
Sam Houston: I heard that the malicious Santa Anna is going to lead a bunch of Mexican soldiers to San Antonio.
James Bowie: So.. so.. I think we need to protect our major mission of Alamo at all costs. I brought about 100 good men here to serve us for this battle and a few weapons.
Sam Houston: I don’t think that will do us any good.
James Bowie: Whoops! I just realized that we have little supplies as well. But I have total faith in our rebel army, we will prevail in the end for sure.
Sam Houston: I have already said it once, I’ll repeat it just in case you didn’t quite catch it the first time. Our weak forces won’t stand a chance against the Mexican army. Secondly, if there are problems with our defense, reinforcements will not be able to arrive to help y’all at all.
James Bowie: But.. General… [widens eyes]
Sam Houston: I have to go now, our rebel army needs more volunteers so that we can defeat Mexico for Texas independence. Remove all of our forces away from the Alamo, and evacuate from the city right after.
James Bowie: Ye-Yes, sir. [makes sad face looking at the floor]
Sam Houston: Adios, amigo!
Scene 3:
(After Sam Houston leaves)
James Bowie: Men!! Gather up, it’s time for us to fight for our independence here at the Alamo!!
